Who we are
Just The Fax (justthefax.io) is operated by Just The Fax LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. By using the service you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
The service
Just The Fax transmits documents via fax on your behalf. We confirm transmission to the receiving fax machine. We do not guarantee the document was received, read, or acted upon by the recipient. A "delivered" fax means the receiving fax machine accepted the transmission -- nothing more. The receiving machine may be out of paper, shared by many people, or located somewhere other than you expect; those circumstances are outside our control.
Pricing
Pricing is per fax, based on page count, and shown to you before you pay: $1.99 for 1-15 pages, $2.99 for 16-50 pages, $4.99 for 51-100 pages, plus a $0.25 per-page surcharge for international numbers. An optional cover page is free and does not count toward your page total. There are no subscriptions and no accounts.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring you have authorization to send documents to the fax number you provide. You must comply with all applicable laws including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Junk Fax Prevention Act (JFPA).
What we are not
We are not a HIPAA Business Associate. Do not use this service as your sole means of transmitting documents for which HIPAA compliance is required. We do not provide legal advice or guarantee the legal validity of faxed documents in any jurisdiction.
Payment
Your card is authorized when you submit payment. It is only charged if your fax is successfully delivered. Failed faxes are automatically voided -- you pay nothing.
No refunds after successful delivery
Once a fax has been confirmed as delivered by the receiving machine, the charge is final. Refunds are issued at our discretion for technical errors on our end.
Abuse prevention
We reserve the right to block any IP address or payment method we believe is being used for spam, abuse, or illegal faxing. No refund will be issued for blocked transactions where abuse is confirmed.
Document retention
Uploaded documents are processed to create your fax and permanently deleted immediately after the send completes, whether it succeeded or failed. We never store your document contents after the outcome is known.
The fax number directory
Our directory lists fax numbers sourced from official publications, with a citation to the source on every listing. Fax numbers change without notice; we do not guarantee any listed number remains current or correct. Verify the number on the institution's official page before sending sensitive documents.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from a fax is limited to the amount you paid for that fax. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, for failures of the receiving fax machine or phone line, or for any consequence of a document arriving late, illegible, or at a number you supplied in error.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated date. Using the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
